The 2016 WindEnergy Hamburg has been a resounding success – not least for Senvion who signed three substantial contracts during the world’s leading wind industry event.
Held together with the WindEurope Summit for the first time, the trade fair has grown into a significant industry forum and major business platform. As an international business with headquarters here in Europe’s wind capital, we take great pride in our highly successful contribution to the 2016 WindEnergy Hamburg. Perhaps the single biggest attraction of the trade fair was an original nacelle of a Senvion 3.2M114 that we exhibited in front of the main entrance. It brought home the dimensions of a typical nacelle in spectacular fashion and the guided tours by our service technicians were hugely popular.
The presentation of our new steel and hybrid towers and the upgrades to the Senvion Eco Blade Control and NES turbines were likewise met with great interest and the striking design of our stand provided a perfect platform for their presentation: two stories high, with 234 m2 and 200 m2 of floor space respectively, and a 70 m2 wrap-around LED display, it received much attention and positive comments from visitors and exhibitors alike.
The Senvion stand was impressive not only because of its sheer size, but also because of its architectural aesthetic and visitor-friendly technology. State-of-the art interactive OLED and touch screens provided in-depth information on the entire range of Senvion products and services. The upper floor housed meeting rooms as well as a café and bar. All of this enabled visitors to independently access vital information and created a space to meet and talk to our staff from every department – in short, to ‘Meet Senvion’.
From sales, products, services through to HR, financing and supply chain management, our staff all agreed on both the exceptional level of interest as well as the quality of dialogue throughout the trade fair.
This huge success is also reflected in three substantial contracts signed during the trade fair, each of them significant in its own way.
Firstly, we signed a 42 MW contract with Elicio NV for 21 Senvion MM100 turbines for the Alibunar wind farm in Serbia and we have also been entrusted with their service and maintenance for a 15-year period. This contract continues our successful expansion into new markets and – together with our contract for the Malibunar wind farm, signed only a few weeks ago – marks our entry into Serbia.
Secondly, the Bürgerwindpark im Kirchspiel Medelby GmbH & Co. KG in Schleswig-Holstein Germany signed six conditional contracts for 22 new turbines with a total rated output of 60 megawatt (MW). We’re delighted to continue our existing business relation with Bürgerwindpark and expand it into the area of auction support, which is obviously a crucial issue in Germany.
Finally, we will deliver 32 Senvion 6.XM offshore turbines and provide service for the Trianel Windpark Borkum II, which will have an installed capacity of approx. 203 MW. The contract is an expression of the confidence of investors in turbines such as the Senvion 6.2M152, which sets new standards in the cost-effective generation of offshore wind energy – and will further consolidate our strong position in the offshore wind-energy market.
