Exceeding Expectations in Australia

Senvion Australia has been on a winning streak this year, and the completion of the Yaloak South wind farm is no exception. This past May, the Senvion Australia team safely completed the wind farm on budget and a remarkable 25 days ahead of schedule. The Yaloak South Wind Farm, which is located an hour from Melbourne, is made up of 14 Senvion MM92 turbines with a total generating capacity of 28.7 megawatts.

Overcoming Challenges

The Yaloak wind project was not without its challenges. The turbines are located on prime agricultural land, and the team worked closely with local land owners to ensure that the construction process didn’t impact on the profitability of existing farming practices. In addition, the civil and electrical subcontractors on the project hadn’t worked with Senvion technology prior to this project. This meant that Senvion needed to provide additional training to the local subcontractor teams on working with the MM92 turbine. Despite these challenges, Senvion managed a speedy and efficient delivery.

The Power of Effective Teamwork

Project Manager Rajesh Dapurkar said that the early delivery of the project came down to the professional and hard-working teams across the company. “The Yaloak South wind farm is a great example of teams in Australia and Germany working together with the best interests of our client in mind. We now have so much experience and knowledge across Senvion, that we are extremely well equipped to safely and efficiently deliver high performing wind farms,” explains Dapurkar.

A Long-Standing Partnership

The Yaloak South wind farm is owned by Pacific Hydro, a leading renewable energy company in Australia. Senvion has had a long and successful partnership with Pacific Hydro going back over a decade. In fact, over a third of Senvion’s turbines in Australia are on Pacific Hydro wind farms. The company’s General Manager Australia Rachel Watson said: “Senvion has been a terrific delivery partner for us in Australia. We have been particularly pleased with the early delivery of Yaloak South; and the Senvion MM series turbines are performing well both there and across our Portland Wind Energy Project. In addition, the local service teams provide exemplary levels of support.”
