Efficient energy production in low and medium wind conditions

The 4.2M140 is a powerful turbine in our four megawatt platform for low and medium wind-speed sites. With its bigger rotor, a rated power of 4,200 kW and highly efficient rotor blades it can achieve a high annual energy production. The rotor blades are based on our Rodpack technology which is already used in the 3.XM series. With an updated gearbox design, significantly longer blades and an advanced pitch bearing, as well as a generator and full converter system, the 4.2M140 stands for more efficiency, higher availability and lower service costs. With Smart Power Mode the nominal power of the 4.2M140 can be maximized to 4,500 kW.

          The 4.XM series features a well-proven modular and evolutionary technology concept based on the Senvion 3.XM series. The smart and robust design results in a highly efficient and reliable turbine concept: from the aerodynamically optimized rotor blade, compact and efficient drivetrain, advanced control technology right through to the transformer. This flawless interplay delivers high energy yields while keeping sound emissions low.

          Smart Power Mode

          With our tried-and-tested and modular technology, Smart Power Mode enables the optimization of the wind turbine without component changes. By evaluating the project conditions and adjusting operational parameters, the nominal power can be increased by 300 kW. This maximizes the output from 4.2 MW to 4.5 MW. A combination of both Smart Power Mode and standard operation mode can be implemented to allow the best possible output from each wind farm.

          Eco Blade Control

          The Eco Blade Control (EBC) generation of turbines boasts high yields at low-wind locations, an outstanding operational lifespan of 25 years, and a low sound power level. Light weight construction of the blade due to our Rodpack Technology and an advanced load management technology completes the benefits of this turbines.

            Generator/frequency converter

            • High quality spherical roller bearing with bearing with perfectly fitted bearing housing and permanent lubrication for maximum service life

            • Four-point contact bearing with external gearing, powered by top quality high-performance gear motors
            • Holding brakes with hydraulic pressure accumulator for fail-safe function relieve drive systems when inoperative and stabilise nacelle
            • Minimum stress on the drive trains thanks to low friction of four-point bearing and brake release during wind tracking
