Edinburgh:
Senvion SE, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Suzlon Group, the world’s fifthlargest* manufacturer of wind turbines, has signed three new turbine contracts with long standing customers Energiekontor UK, EDF Energy Renewables (EDF ER) and the Ventus Funds for wind farms in Gayton le Marsh in East Lindsey, Lincolnshire, Rhodders in Clackmannanshire and Holton in Suffolk, respectively.
Gayton le Marsh wind farm will consist of eight MM92 turbines with a rated output of 16.4 megawatts (MW), sufficient to power more than 8,000 homes. This is the fifth contract Senvion has signed with Energiekontor in the UK. A 15 year operations and maintenance contract has also been signed. It is planned that the turbines will be delivered to the site in September 2015 and the project will be handed over to the customer in May 2016.

The Rhodders wind farm in Clackmannanshire, developed by EDF ER, will consist of six Senvion MM82 turbines with a total rated output of 12.3 MW, producing enough electricity to power around 9,700 homes*. A two year operations and maintenance agreement has also been confirmed. Construction is due to start next summer and project handover completed by the end of August 2015. Senvion has partnered with EDF ER on over fifteen projects to date.

Holton Wind Farm, developed by the Ventus Funds and managed by Temporis Capital LLP, will be located in Suffolk and will consist of five Senvion MM82 turbines with a rated output of 10.25 MW. The wind farm will generate enough electricity to power over 5,000 homes. Construction is due to start in spring 2015 and the project should be completed in early autumn 2015. This is the eighth contract that Senvion has entered with a Ventus portfolio company and includes a 15 year operations and maintenance agreement.

Raymond Gilfedder, Managing Director of Senvion Northern Europe, commented: “We are delighted to be signing these new contracts, demonstrating the continuation of a long and fruitful relationship between Senvion and three leading UK wind developers, and we looking forward to continuing these relationships in the future.”

Richard Lill, Financing and Construction Manager of Energiekontor UK said: “Gayton le Marsh wind farm is our fifth contract with Senvion and demonstrates our confidence in the turbines and service package. We look forward to working with Senvion’s team to combine our expertise and ensure the project is built to the highest standards and completed on time.”

John Penman, Head of Construction at EDF Energy Renewables, said: “We’re pleased to be working again with Senvion who supplied the same turbines for our adjacent sites at Burnfoot Hill and Burnfoot North. This should help us realise synergies and a consistency of performance and ‘design’ across all three sites.”
